Since the late 20th century, Urban Art, including Street Art and Graffiti, has gained global popularity as a medium for cultural expression and societal critique. Its roots trace back to the 1970s in New York. An upcoming exhibition by Gin Huang Gallery will highlight diverse international artists, exploring themes like identity and globalization.
Gin Huang Gallery will participate in Art Taipei 2024, held from October 24 to 28 at the Taipei World Trade Center. From July 3 to August 9, 2024, the Gin Huang Gallery in Taipei will host a solo exhibition by French artist July Ancel, titled “EXOTIC WEAVINGS.” This exhibition features Ancel’s innovative fusion of oil painting and traditional Indian embroidery, showcasing cross-cultural artistic exchange and the depth of cultural significance in her diverse works.

“Weaving Realities: Visual Dialogues of Contemporary Japanese Artists” is an exhibition that delves into the unique perspectives and interpretations of the real world by contemporary Japanese artists through their visually compelling works. By employing a diverse range of mediums and artistic styles, these artists transform their observations of society, culture, and personal experiences into thought-provoking pieces that invite viewers to reflect on contemporary issues.
Arikawa, who began his career by painting and selling artworks on the street, has held the large-scale solo exhibition “Ko-Hey! Arikawa EXPO®︎” every year since 2005, attracting over 12,000 visitors during the exhibition period with a long-standing following among visitors of all ages. His representative work, “BEST FRIENDS Matthew kun,” a boy with red hair, has become an icon known by all, building bridges between people through various projects in Okinawa and other parts of Japan.
